The array of outboard gear is gone and it feels great. I've recently uncluttered my rig so that I can have just the keyboards and the control surfaces that I need directly in front of me so that I can focus more on playing. If it were and if this pedal could interface with the universe of ios apps out there then I might be edging my way towards it. Too bad their new Leslie sim doesn't seem to be available for ios. Please forgive if I'm a little off track. They should get you guys to do a commercial for them. I don't understand how any guitarplayer can. In fact, I picked up a late 90s model, and had it modded to 80s specs in case of my damaging the original again, and need to have a back up while it is being repaired again. That being said, although it is 30 years old, and the paint job now looks like worms are burrowing beneath it, after I had the pot replaced, it still performs beautifully. I had a friend who used to frequently work out his frustrations by picking up his Rat and slamming it full force into the concrete walls of the rehearsal space. I thought that was near impossible to do. I banged it around so much that I actually broke one of the pots. You’re an animal! Jokes aside, how’d you manage that? I have destroyed an Ernie Ball volume pedal and a Rat, and both of those things are built like freakin' tanks.ĭude! I’ve had my Rat for like 25 years. It seems great, but I don't think it is for me. My bluetooth pedal is fantastic and really really comes in handy with for score when I have a gig with a lot of said: These days my pedalboard does what I need (I love the ehx bass microsynth, it really sounds very moog like and although Bruno Mars is beginning to annoy me, I appreciate the I get to use that sound when covering his songs!) but an interface like this would be good for the right settings.Īs much as ik's marketing style can get to you, they really do make some great products and have great ideas that do help on gigs. Sonoma has a similar idea with a pedal interface that looks very cool (but no expression pedal built in), but I didn't grab it when there were a bunch of open box ones on amazon for much less than new. With a long enough cable, this device would make me strongly consider it. I will use it on occasion for certain things, and actually amplitube is my favorite ios amp software for bass, the dial mic thing leaves a lot of tone adjustment when needed. Tonestack on bass sounded great through a PA going DI, but the hassle of setting it all up and dealing with noise from interfaces if charging or power was also involved made it difficult to use all the time. This IK setup looks rugged enough, but I’m enjoying jamming with my amp and pedals again.Įxactly. I felt lucky that nothing got broken and that i didn’t lose anything. Ultimately, I went back to using an amp and pedals for live use because it was easier for me to set up than the iPad with interface, long cables, etc. In terms of my interest in it, I tried playing live and jamming with my iPad as my amp and pedal setup for over a year, it sounded good, and no one could tell I wasn’t using an amp. Looks like a solid device, and I would think they’d be able to sell a few more of their mic stand iOS device clips with this thing. I can’t imagine them not including a cable long enough to connect your device from a mic stand. I think it's a niche product that could be immensely useful for a narrow subset of guitar players that rely on a particular amp modeling app that fully supports said: And if I'm doing something other than guitar, then I definitely don't want it on the floor. I probably want it between waist and shoulder level so I can change settings and tweak around with effects and amps. If I'm going to stepping and stomping all over a floor unit, I don't want my glass screen iPad right next to what I'm doing. The latter two items, plus the size of this thing send it to the floor, which is precisely where I don't want my $1,000 iPad Pro 12.9" to be. It's basically the combination of a $100 interface, the BT4 footswitcher (though, I assume, controlling through Lightning jack, not BT), and an expression pedal. I think best case scenario is that it turns your guitar setup into an equivalent of the ($1,000) HeadRush pedalboard, using other software/hardware you already have.īut it's a strange marriage of different products that I'm not sure needs to be all in a floorboard device. Interesting certainly got my attention as a guitar player, since that's a form factor we're used to.
